Dear Members and Friends...
I am pleased to share the October edition of ICHCA Insights. This month brings together several important updates across our community, including preparations for ITP89 and our Annual General Meeting, continued focus on safety innovation and new resources to support awareness across the supply chain.
On 2–3 November, members of the ICHCA community will come together in London for ITP89 and our AGM. These meetings remain a central part of the ICHCA calendar, providing valuable opportunities to exchange knowledge, explore current and emerging safety issues and help shape our ongoing technical work. We look forward to two productive days of discussion and member engagement.
We also highlight the global nature of safety innovation, with the TT Club Innovation in Safety Award continuing to welcome entries from across the cargo‑handling and logistics sector. Safety challenges may look different around the world, but practical, effective solutions can come from any location or operation.
This edition features the latest G2 Ocean Safety Bulletin, focusing on cargo securing and the importance of preventing cargo movement that can endanger crews, stevedores and vessels. Alongside this, ICHCA has released a new companion Quick Guide addressing dangerous goods training requirements across transport modes. Training is a fundamental component of dangerous goods safety, and this guide supports personnel in understanding where key requirements sit within the regulatory frameworks.
We are also pleased to share a link to Part 2 of the Baltic Transport Journal’s feature on the TT Club Innovation in Safety Awards, which explores how the programme continues to champion practical improvements that reduce injuries, prevent equipment damage and strengthen operational resilience.
Finally, we provide an update on upcoming IMO meeting dates and current hot topics shaping the wider regulatory landscape. Staying informed on these developments supports our shared commitment to safer, more efficient and more sustainable cargo operations worldwide.
Let us keep raising standards, together.
