November 2025

Dear Members and Friends...

November is often a month for reflection and here at ICHCA, a chance to look back on what’s been achieved in cargo handling safety before we turn our eyes to the year ahead. This issue captures that spirit of both progress and preparation.

We are delighted to welcome Scott McKay as the new Chair of ICHCA International, bringing decades of supply chain expertise and a strong commitment to collaboration and knowledge sharing. His appointment comes at an important time as we continue to work with our members to drive safety performance across the cargo chain through data, innovation and shared learning.

We are also in the final days of entries for the TT Club Innovation in Safety Award, a flagship initiative that shines a light on practical solutions improving safety on the ground and at sea. If you haven’t yet submitted your innovation, there’s still just a little time before the 14 November deadline, and we look forward to celebrating all those who make a difference when we meet for the Award Ceremony in London next February.

Elsewhere in this issue, you’ll find important safety alerts and bulletins from across our community, including a sobering reminder about confined space hazards and the latest practical insights from G2 Ocean. These contributions, alongside welcoming new member Strata Worldwide, demonstrate how collective effort and shared experience are essential to continue to strengthen our industry’s safety culture.

Let’s keep raising standards, together.

International Cargo Handling Association (ICHCA) has a new chair. Australian Scott McKay has been elected, effective 30 September.

McKay commented, “I see that ICHCA has a fantastic opportunity to further develop gathering, analysing and sharing safety data and best practice to help improve safety decisions and cultural change along and across the cargo supply chain.”
