Dear Members and Friends...
Welcome to the latest edition of ICHCA Insights, your gateway to the people, partnerships, and progress shaping safety in the cargo handling industry.
This issue is packed with stories that highlight the strength of our community, the importance of shared learning, and our ongoing commitment to safer, more efficient operations.
We begin with a wrap-up from our recent ICHCA Technical Panel in Barcelona—a vibrant gathering of experts whose collaborative discussions are now captured in a wide-ranging members-only report. It’s an excellent insight into the work driving safety and innovation across the sector.
Looking ahead, we’re thrilled to invite you to the #SafetyVillage at TOC Europe in Rotterdam (17–19 June). This interactive hub of safety-focused dialogue promises to be an unmissable event. If you’re passionate about improving safety culture, come connect with leaders who are turning strategy into action.
Also featured is a sobering but essential read: G2 Ocean’s latest Safety Bulletin, which shares hard-earned lessons from a fatal incident involving a moving hatch cover and failed barriers. It’s a powerful reminder of why collective vigilance and learning really matters.
In the spirit of continuous improvement, ICHCA proudly supports Global Lifting Awareness Day on 12 June. This industry-wide campaign is an important platform to highlight safe lifting practices—don’t miss the opportunity to tune into the GLAD 2025 webinar.
Finally, we shine a light on ICHCA’s advocacy work at the International Maritime Organization (IMO). As we prepare for the upcoming MSC 110 meeting, we encourage members to stay engaged through our IMO activities and explore the latest Current Awareness Bulletin to stay informed.
