Welcome to December’s ICHCA Insights, your digest of ICHCA highlights. This month we lead with our member benefits brochure; a reminder of the opportunities that you can call upon as part of ICHCA. The more that you make use of our services, the greater the benefit to you and the better we become at sharing learning and experience across our community. Sharing innovation is crucial to our mission and we are delighted to report a record number of entries to the 2021 TT Club Innovation in Safety Awards. The judges are busily working through the exciting and thought-provoking ideas. Plans are underway for the awards ceremony in February. We have also updated our website with a new page for Technical Enquiries. Members can submit practical, real-world, questions in confidence to our community of experts. The results are posted on the new page in digest form. They are living documents and can be updated as the latest information and experiences come to light.

Finally, we take the opportunity in this issue to say a warm thank you to Sergio Galvan-Montesdeoca on his retirement from the ICHCA Board after long and dedicated service. We are proud of what has gone before and because of the work of Sergio and many others we can be ambitious for ICHCA’s future.

2. Record Year of Entries for the TT Club Innovation in Safety Awards 2021
|
|
We are thrilled to report a record year of entries to the TT Club Innovation in Safety Award in 2021.
|
With over 50% more submissions than any previous year, the judges have an abundance of creative, innovative and thought-provoking content to consider. The award was set up to celebrate safety innovation in the global freight supply chain, with entrants required to show that a product, idea, solution, process, scheme or other innovation has resulted in a demonstrable improvement to safety. This Award shows that smart, dedicated people are working throughout the cargo handling world to improve safety and we are proud to be part of that endeavour. Look out for the awards decision and ceremony in the new year!

3. New: Technical Enquiries Page Now Available On Our Website
|
|
We are delighted to launch a new page on the website where members can find the answers to recent Technical Enquiries.
|
|
ICHCA's unique Technical Advisory Service is available to all members. You can ask technical safety questions and get expert industry advice and guidance. Our service provides a trusted source of information on cargo handling practice, policy and regulations - all handled in confidence. 4. Sergio Galvan-Montesdeoca Retires From The ICHCA Board
|
|
In this issue of ICHCA Insights we wanted to make a special point of marking the retirement of Sergio Galvan-Montesdeoca.
|
|
Sergio was a Director and Board member of ICHCA International from 2008 to 2021 which is an extraordinary and valued contribution to the successes and life of ICHCA by any measure.
|
|
Sergio fully committed to the principles of ICHCA International, advocating for sharing good practice and exchange of learning within the ICHCA community.
|
|
A superb ambassador for ICHCA and for raising health and safety standards across the industry, Sergio was integrally involved in our engagement with the Canaries and Africa region. His tireless efforts to grow membership there and to provide them with great workshops and seminar opportunities will be recognisable to all who encountered him or experienced those events.
