Dear Subscriber...

Welcome to the November ICHCA Insights newsletter. This month we celebrate the success of our first open invitation ICHCA Technical Panel meeting, held in October. Our five speakers 'knocked it out of the park' bringing new knowledge and passion for positive change. Earlier on the same day, our distinguished colleagues in ICHCA Japan hosted their 5th International Cargo-handling Seminar. This event, cosponsored with JACMS, provided leading thinking on port automation and decarbonisation. Recordings of speaker sessions from both events are available in the members' area of our web site.

Excitement is building as the submissions closing date of the TT Club Innovation in Safety Awards approaches. There are so many people in our industry working both hard and smart to improve health and safety and there is still time to enter your game changing idea. A core ICHCA purpose is to bring best practice to the whole industry. I am looking forward to sharing knowledge and buzzing exchanges of ideas when you see the entries .

Finally, grab your popcorn and find a comfy seat to watch the new ICHCA promo video on the front page of our web site www.ichca.com. If you want to tell anyone about ICHCA and what we do, it's a wonderful place to start!

On 28 October, ICHCA members and guests saw four world-class speakers deliver powerful and incisive learning in an event attended by over 60 industry delegates from around the world.

Jennifer Webster from the UK's Health and Safety laboratory explained how to achieve safety culture excellence: now and tomorrow. Steven Naylor, also from HSL freed us up to imagine a world where incidents can be predicted and prevented. Ruth Gallagher, Global Head of HSE and Arun Kalam Senior HSE Lead – Terminals and Transportation, showed how A.P. Moller – Maersk have stepped up and shown industry leadership combined with practical can-do delivery. Producing measurable improvements in lashing safety and vessel safety inspections. Stephen Cotton, General Secretary, International Transport Workers’ Federation made the conclusive case for social partnership between employers, port workers and their unions to drive safer, more efficient and sustainable logistics.

If you were unable to see the event live, you can still see the recording and slides on our web site in our members-only area. If you would like to find how to access these presentations and more about ICHCA membership, please e-mail secretariat@ichca.com
