Dear Subscriber...
Welcome to the February edition of ICHCA Insights.
In this edition, we celebrate the power of innovation, knowledge-sharing, and collaboration in making our industry safer and more efficient.
We begin with an exciting announcement about the TT Innovation in Safety Award, which will now recognise a greater number of outstanding safety innovations across four distinct categories. The calibre and diversity of entries over the years have been exceptional, and this new format ensures that more pioneering solutions receive the recognition they deserve.
Next, we highlight the latest edition of Port Technology International’s e-journal, featuring insight on safety leadership and culture. With contributions from industry experts this issue provides valuable perspectives on how we can drive meaningful change in safety and security.
Our third feature comes from ICHCA member G2 Ocean, focusing on a critical safety issue—dropped steel cargo during crane operations. This latest Safety Bulletin reinforces the importance of best practices and vigilance to prevent life-threatening incidents.
Finally, we look ahead to our ICHCA Technical Panel Meeting and AGM in Barcelona on 19 May 2025. This in-person event will be an excellent opportunity for members to connect, collaborate, and engage in discussions that shape the future of safety and logistics. As a bonus, attendees will receive complimentary registration for the ‘Mediterranean Port & Logistics 2025’ event, including a technical site visit and networking opportunities.
We hope you find this issue both informative and inspiring. As always, we welcome your thoughts and contributions as we collectively learn and improve for the benefit of the industry and all the people working in it.
Let’s keep raising safety standards together!

The enthusiasm with which the Award has been received since its inception in 2016 is evidenced by the consistent number of inspiring entries each year. All deserve praise for the calibre of their innovation and for the passion for safety that they exhibit. Over the years a marked increase the diversity of the nature of innovative products, services and processes has been noted.
