“Collaboration and communication with professional peers are more essential than ever. Sharing industry expertise allows us to learn, innovate, and drive meaningful improvement. ICHCA remains the organisation dedicated to maximising these opportunities in cargo handling and coordination safety. The most successful operators understand that sustainable businesses are built on a foundation of health and safety, alongside efficiency, customer service, innovation, and technology. 2. New Year Message from ICHCA's CEO 2025
In 2024, ICHCA and its members achieved significant progress in cargo handling safety by hosting events like the TT Club Innovation in Safety Awards and the Safety Village, publishing innovative safety guides, and advancing key projects such as vessel inspection tools, emergency response syllabi, and our first IMDG Code online module. We actively contributed to IMO updates on confined spaces and dangerous goods and strengthened industry partnerships through advocacy campaigns like PEST Week. For 2025, ICHCA plans to release new golden safety rules guidance, launch new initiatives like Accident Data Sharing, and continue campaigns on workplace safety and battery fire risks, reaffirming our commitment to a safer, smarter cargo-handling industry.

4. 2024 IMO-WISTA Women in Maritime Survey
IMPORTANT NEWS! The deadline for the 2024 IMO-WISTA Women in Maritime Survey has been extended to January 31, 2025.
IMO/WISTA are gathering data on gender diversity across the maritime sector, including workforce demographics, leadership roles, and workplace policies. This will be used to track progress made towards gender equality goals for the global maritime sector against data shared with us in 2021.
All maritime companies and organizations should take this survey, regardless of size or specialization. IMO/WISTA needs EVERYONE to help create an accurate picture of our sector as it exists today - so that they can map the pathway to a more diverse future.
