December 2024

Dear Subscriber...

Welcome to the December edition of ICHCA Insights.

As we approach the close of another remarkable year, we celebrate the milestones, transitions, and opportunities that have shaped our community.

We highlight the success of our recent Maritime Safety Series: Ports Edition on-line conference with our member and partner Port Technology International, which brought together industry leaders, innovators, and peers to exchange knowledge and tackle shared challenges. Participation and collaboration from over 500 people in our industry made it a standout event, reinforcing the power of our network to drive progress in cargo handling and safety. The sessions are available on ‘catch-up’ through the link below.

This year also marks a significant transition for our Board. We bid a heartfelt farewell to Laurence Jones, who is retiring after many years of dedicated service as a member and on the ICHCA board since 2008. Laurence’s expertise, can-do approach and unwavering commitment have been invaluable to ICHCA and we wish him all the best in this well-earned next chapter. Also recognising new moves for Peregrine Storrs-Fox, a huge contributor to ICHCA’s work. After a 40-year career, Peregrine takes on a new consultancy role and we look forward to continuing to work with him in this new capacity.

Looking ahead, please save the date for our Annual Industry Safety Awards in London on 26 February. This in-person event is now firmly established as an important opportunity to celebrate excellence and innovation in creating safer working environments across our sector.

Finally, a reminder that your membership gives you access to meetings at the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). As part of our collective voice, members can participate in these key discussions that influence safety and regulatory frameworks worldwide. The programme of IMO meetings in 2025 is available on our events calendar by following the link.

Thank you for being a part of our shared journey this year. Your support, engagement, and dedication have been at the heart of our successes. We look forward to an even stronger, safer, and more connected year in 2025.

Wishing you a safe and happy holiday season.

Let’s keep raising safety standards together!
