November 2024

Dear Subscriber...

Welcome to the November edition of ICHCA Insights.

By the time you read this, the TT Club Innovation in Safety Award closing date for entries will be just around the corner. We are exited to see all of the new ideas from our industry that are geared towards continuous improvement in safety for all. If you have an innovation that could help ensure that people are able to go home safely at the end of their shift, please don't hesitate. Send in your entry and help us share the best new thinking from across the industry.

Working with ICHCA member Port Technology International we are proud to co-host our first multi-day virtual conference on 3/4 December. With an exciting programme of terminal related people and technology safety. With panel discussions, fireside chats, keynote speakers and Q&A the programme will look at foundations of safety, cultural change, leveraging the benefits of terminals and their workforces working together and much more. We look forward to seeing you there!

Falls from height is in the top four cargo workplace risks most likely to give rise to a life changing or even fatal injury. ICHCA member G2 Ocean's safety bulletin looks at some real life case studies and puts the spotlight on this critical challenge for safety management.

The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) delivers vital health and safety regulation and guidance to our industry. ICHCA is proud to be recognised at IMO and to act as the voice for cargo handling in their important work. IMO is hosting an orientation seminar on 25/26 November 2024 for anyone who is new to or would like to learn more about how the IMO's work processes. Members can attend by contacting secretariat@ichca.com.

Finally this month we have the latest editions of the UNCTAD newsletter and the IMO bulletin, bringing members up to speed on developments.

Let’s keep raising safety standards together!
