1. New Year Message from ICHCA's Chair

Everyone benefits from communication with professional peers, sharing industry experience, to learn, collaborate and drive improvements. ICHCA is the organisation dedicated to maximising those opportunities in cargo handling and coordination.

The best operators recognise that successful and sustainable businesses are on top of health and safety in the same way that they are on top of efficiency, customer service, innovation, leveraging technology and deploying the right people with the right skills at the right time and place. All interact and depend on one another.

Everyone concerned with the safety of their people and the reputation of their organisations agree that we do better together. There is no competition in safety. Safer and more secure working environments happen by sharing our experiences, successes and even failures to address the dynamic challenges that face us all.

Through ICHCA you are part of a truly global community. You can request assistance, share your best practices and solve problems together. Your voice is heard at bodies such as the International Maritime Organisation and United Nations where we drive strategies to improve safety on docks, at sea and where ships meet shore. Our role, particularly as a recognised NGO at the IMO, continues to grow in influence. We are a global presence expanding and sharing knowledge and learning to make a difference.

2. New Year Message from ICHCA's CEO

ICHCA members came together once again in 2023 to deliver improvements in safety and health across cargo handling. With partners we launched a Lithium battery safety paper, improving risk-based knowledge in an area that has been high on industry’s agenda and is likely to continue to be in the coming year.

In February we held the TT Club Innovation in Safety Awards as a live in-person ceremony for the first time since lockdown and published a 60 page digest of the incredible creative safety ideas being delivered throughout our industry. Any organisation could look at the digest and see something to inspire their next game changing idea.

We continued our monthly Technical Panel Calls; an open forum where you decide what we discuss, ensuring that we explore topics of importance to you.
